Zoox is developing a breakthrough, fully automated, electric vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring the service to market at scale.

Zoox was founded in July 29, 2014 by Tim Kentley-Klay & Jesse Levinson and is based in Foster City, California. In December 2018, it became the first company to gain approval in California, to provide self-driving transport services for the public.

Zoox is working towards creating an entirely new autonomous robot vehicle, targeted at the robo-taxi market, in contrast to its competition, that seeks to retrofit human driven vehicles with autonomous technology. 

Zoox applying the latest in automotive, robotics and renewable energy to design a symmetrical, bidirectional, zero-emissions vehicle from the ground up to solve the unique challenges of autonomous mobility.

 

Zoox is backed by Grok Ventures, DFJ, Blackbird Ventures (Australia), Thomas Tull, Alium Capital and many other venture and angel investors. The company raised $500M in it's last funding of a "Series B" round on Jul 8, 2018. Zoox has secured a total amount of $800M in funding to date.
