Winterlight Labs

Winterlight Labs makes a tablet-based technology that employs speech-based artificial intelligence to identify possible cognitive declines or changes in a patient.

Winterlight Labs is developing a proprietary Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that melds computational linguistics, cognitive neuroscience, and machine learning to help healthcare professionals assess and analyse patients' cognitive health – including memory, thinking and reasoning – from vocal markers captured in short snippets of speech on a tablet computer.

Winterlight Labs was founded in 2015 in Toronto, Canada by Frank Rudzicz, Katie Fraser, Liam Kaufman and Maria Yancheva.

Winterlight has developed a tablet-based assessment that is fast, objective, and stress-free. By analysing speech alone, the technology can detect cognitive impairment associated with dementia and mental illness as track the efficacy of related treatments.

Winterlight Labs is backed by Hikma Ventures, First Star Ventures, Pacific Health Ventures,Grey Sky Venture Partners and others. The company raised $4.2M (CAD 5.6M) from a Series A financing on Nov 18, 2019. This new round brings Winterlight's total funding to $4.7M (CAD 6.8M) to date.
