Wefarm is a peer-to-peer knowledge sharing platform for smallholder farmers. It is the world’s largest knowledge network and marketplace for small-scale farmers.

Wefarm allows its users to share and access vital information, products and services without needing any access to the internet.

WeFarm was founded in 2015 in Kenya by Kenny Ewan. The company is headquartered in London, with offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda.

Wefarm users can ask and answer farming questions and share farming tips, via SMS or online, enabling farmers in rural areas without internet access to share information.

Wefarm is built around the principle that rural farming communities in developing countries have generations worth of knowledge to share, but lack the tools to do so. Wefarm provides an SMS service based around P2P, crowdsourcing of knowledge. Users ask a wide range of questions regarding farming techniques and share information around business ideas.

WeFarm today has around 2.5 million registered users, and its early moves into providing a marketplace — helping to put farmers in touch with local suppliers of goods and gear such as seed and fertilizers — generated over $1 million in sales in its first eight months of operations.

WeFarm is backed by True Ventures, AgFunder, Octopus Ventures, June Fund, LocalGlobe, ADV, Norrsken Foundation and others. The company added another $10M in funding on Mar 09, 2021. This is an extension of its $13M Series A round raised in Oct 2019, bringing the round to $24M. The additional financing brings WeFarm's total funding to $31.9M to date.
