Wealthsimple Financial is an online investment management service focused on making "investing easier for millennials."

Wealthsimple provides world-class, long-term investment management with no account minimums. Your account is invested in a diversified portfolio of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that focus on low-cost index funds. This enables the development of a portfolio that is invested in thousands of different companies and across many major sectors around the globe.

Wealthsimple was founded in September 2014 by Michael Katchen, Brett Huneycutt . The company is based in Toronto, Ontario with additional offices in New York, New York and London, UK.

Wealthsimple combines a robo-advisor platform with access to live advisors. Each client is provided an investment advisor who helps match investments to the client's long-term goals and risk tolerance.

Wealthsimple is primarily owned by Power Corporation indirectly at 83.2% through investments made through their holdings in Power Financial, IGM Financial and Portag3. As of May 2019, the firm holds over C$4.3 billion in assets under management.

 

Wealthsimple's investors include Allianz X, Power Financial Corporation, David Ossip, Roger Martin and Impression Ventures.

 

Wealthsimple has received many awards and accolades. In 2015, Product Hunt Toronto honored Wealthsimple with its first-ever Product of the Year Award. In 2016, the 20th Annual Webby Awards named Wealthsimple its Best Financial Services/Banking website. Wealthsimple was also ranked 29th on the 2017 Fintech100 List.
