Umbo Computer Vision

Umbo Computer Vision is an artificial intelligence company building autonomous video security systems for businesses and organizations.

Umbo CV is advancing surveillance with a new neural network-based artificial intelligence capable of autonomously flagging relevant video events.

Umbo Computer Vision was founded in 2014 by Shawn Guan, Ping-Lin Chang, & Tingfan Wu. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with offices in Taipei, Taiwan and London, UK.

Umbo develops software, hardware, and AI smarts that can detect and identify human behaviors related to security, such as intrusion, tailgating (when an unauthorized individual follows someone into private premises), and wall-scaling.

Umbo’s offering incorporates three components. Its AiCameras are built in-house and feature built-in AI chips. They connect directly to the cloud, bypassing servers and video recording intermediates, such as NVRs or DVRs. Light is AI-powered software for detecting and issuing alerts on human-related security actions, and TruePlatform, a centralized platform where businesses can monitor and manage all their cameras, users, and security events.

Umbo Computer Vision is backed by Translink Capital, Susquehanna International Group, CDIB Ventures, Shin-Kong Capital, Shin-Kong Security and others. The company raised $8M from a post-A financing on Oct 8, 2019. The latest round brings Umbo's total funding to $17.6M to date.

Umbo's newest product, Umbo Light, recently won the SIA New Product Showcase award in the Video Analytics category at ISC West 2017.
