SpinLaunch was founded in 2014 by Jonathan Yaney in Sunnyvale, California. The company’s current headquarters are in Long Beach, California.
SpinLaunch first unveiled its technological approach for moving payloads to space in February 2018 and in 2019 signed a lease at Spaceport America in New Mexico for the purposes of testing.
SpinLaunch is backed by Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Airbus Ventures, Catapult Ventures, Lauder Partners and others. The company raised $35M in a latest financing on Jan 16, 2020. This new round brings SpinLaunch's total funding to $80M to date.
