Playco was founded in 2020 by Michael Carter and Justin Waldron. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with offices in Seoul, South Korea and Mountain View, California.

 

Playco regards itself as the first instant-play gaming company that hopes to create games that not just millions, but billions of people can play together.

 

Playco is targeting platforms such as cloud streaming, Google Play Instant, iOS App Clips, Facebook Instant Games, and Snapchat Minis. Playco will make games, provide the backend infrastructure and analytics, and distribute the games across a number of instant game platforms.

 

Playco is backed by Sequoia Capital Global Equities, Mino Games founder Josh Buckley, Sozo Ventures, Raymond Tonsing’s Caffeinated Capital, Keisuke Honda’s KSK Angel Fund, Taizo Son’s Mistletoe Singapore, Digital Garage, Will Smith’s Dreamers VC, and Makers Fund. Playco has raised $100M in a Series A funding round on Sep 21, 2020. The round values the company at $1B post-money.
