Micronoma

Micronoma is an early cancer-detection biotech that seeks to develop and commercialize a minimally invasive, microbiome-based method.

Micronoma aims to develop its first product, an assay for the early detection of lung cancer.

Micronoma was incorporated in June 2019 by Sandrine Miller-Montgomery, Rob Knight and Greg Poore. The company is headquartered in San Diego, California.

Micronoma is the first cancer-detection company using liquid biopsy technology to detect and predict cancer by interrogating the microbial signal with clinical-grade accuracy at an early stage of the disease.

Micronoma's technology has shown that distinct cancer types can be diagnosed sensitively and specifically solely using microbial nucleic acids in human blood and tissues. This approach was first demonstrated using a cancer sequencing database of >10,000 patients from 32 cancer types.

Micronoma has raised $3M in a Seed funding round on Aug 13, 2020. The financing was led by microbiome-focused investor, SymBiosis, LLC.
