MAPS.ME

Maps.me, formerly known as MapsWithMe, is a mobile app for Android, iOS and BlackBerry that provides offline maps using OpenStreetMap data.

The Maps.me app provides offline access to turn-by-turn routing, travel guides, hotel bookings and maps which is targeted toward travelers without cell phone reception or pre-paid phone plans.

MAPS.ME was founded in 2011 by Yury Melnichek, Alexander Borsuk, Viktor Govako and Siarhei Rachytski. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands, with offices in Moscow, Russia and Mountain View, California. In November 2014, it was acquired by Mail.Ru Group and became part of its My.com brand.

 

MAPS.me's app is based on OpenStreetMap data. Over 5 million OSM volunteers help make its maps better. MAPS.ME is not just an app, but a whole community of travelers to which everyone can contribute.

MAPS.me is creating a global multilingual platform of digital travel guides, on which more than 25,000 routes for city walks and outdoor activities in 100 countries and 700 cities are already available.

MAPS.me has more than 140 million users who trust its up with their travels to explore the world with offline maps and routes, book hotels, use navigation and save their favorite places.

 

MAPS.me has raised $50M in a new financing on Jan 17, 2021. The round was led by Alameda Research, with Genesis Capital and CMS Holding also participating in the investment.
