Luko is an insurance tech startup that uses sensors, data, and machine learning to circumvent the need to make a claim in the first place.

Luko transforms insurance core business model to align the interests of the tenant and the insurer.

Luko was founded in 2016 by Raphaël Vullierme, & Benoit Bourdel. The company is headquartered in Paris, France.

Luko offers a similar proposition to other modern, mobile-focused insurance companies such as New York-based Lemonade, insofar it promises to provide quick coverage with minimal friction.

Luko offers three tracking sensors, which are free and completely optional for insurees. One of these attaches to the customer’s front door, another to their electric meter, and the third to their main water pipe.

Luko currently targets homeowners and landlords in its native France, where it has garnered 15,000 customers in the 10 months since launch.

Luko is backed by Accel, Founders Fund, Speedinvest, Kima Ventures and others. The company raised $22M (€20M) from a latest Series A financing on Nov 18, 2019. This new round brings Luko's total fundding to $24.2M (€22M) to date.
