Lenskart was founded in 2010 by Peyush Bansal, Amit Chaudhary, Neha Bansal and Sumeet Kapahi. The company is headquartered in Faridabad, Haryana, India, with operations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

 

Lenskart currently sells its eye products online and through over 2,000 stores, three-fourths of which are in India. The company has the biggest collection of discounted contact lenses consisting all top-notch brands (viz. Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb, Ciba Vision are to name a few).

 

Lenskart offers free eye inspection tests to all potential customers. It also lets users book a couple of glasses and try them at home before committing a purchase. The startup also uses a 3D AI model to allow users to check how different pairs of glasses would look on their face.

 

Lenskart is serving over 7 million customers annually through its omni-channel shopping experience, which spans online, mobile application, and 750+ omni-channel stores in 252 cities across the country.

 

Lenskart is backed by IDG Ventures, SoftBank, Temasek, Alpha Wave Global, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Unilazer Ventures, KKR & Co., TR Capital, TPG Capital,  Ravi Modi Family Trust, Avendus Future, Chiratae Ventures, DSP India Fund, and others. The company raised $500M in a new financing on Mar 16, 2023. This is an extension to last year's round, helps the startup retain its $4.5B valuation. With the latest round Lenskart has now raised a total of $1.45B to date.
