LEAD School was founded in 2012 by Sumeet Mehta and Smita Deorah. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

 

LEAD's integrated school system provides software, hardware curriculum, books, a school kit, and training sessions. The platform helps K-12 schools with the curriculum they teach, how they teach them, secure books and other resources from vendors, and better evaluate the learning outcome.

 

Lead runs its own schools and partners with private schools to improve the learning outcomes of students. Its digital system offers a model based on a mobile app for teachers, which has detailed lesson plans and audio-visual resources.

 

LEAD works with thousands of K-12 schools where it has integrated its platform that helps them secure books and other resources from vendors, thereby cutting middlemen and bringing quality assurance.

 

Lead is backed by WestBridge Capital, Alteria Capital, GSV Ventures, Standard Chartered Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Elevar Equity, RFE Investment Partners, Stride Ventures, and others. The company raised ₹160 crore ($17M) in a debt financing on Jan 11, 2023. This brings LEAD's total funding to $187.2M to date. LEAD was valued at a $1.1B from a financing in Jan 2022.
