HawkEye 360 is a defense technology leader providing global knowledge of human activity and trends derived from revolutionary radio frequency (RF) geospatial intelligence.
HawkEye 360 operates a first of its kind commercial satellite constellation to identify and geolocate a broad set of RF signals.
HawkEye 360 was founded in 2015 by Chris DeMay, Charles Clancy, and Bob McGwier. The company is headqartered in Herndon, Virginia.
HawkEye operates a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit that collect radio frequency emissions. It can detect, characterize and geolocate these signals, including those from radar systems, some satellite devices, and VHF marine radios.
HawkEye sells a suite of RF geospatial intelligence products to defense and commercial customers, including maritime and telecommunications companies. HawkEye currently has 21 satellites in orbit, which it launches in clusters of three. The most recent cluster, called Cluster 7, launched to orbit in April.
HawkEye 360 has landed contracts with the U.S. government, including the National Reconnaissance Office, the Department of Defense’s Joint All-Domain Command and Control program, and allied nations. HawkEye also announced a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia for a pilot program providing marine domain awareness to monitor illegal and unregulated fishing.
HawkEye 360 is backed by Insight Partners, BlackRock, Airbus, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Manhattan Venture Partners, Leidos, Esri, NightDragon, Seraphim Space Investment Trust, Razor's Edge, Alumni Ventures, Adage Capital, Strategic Development Fund (SDF), Shield Capital Partners, and others. The company raised an additional $10M in Series D-1 round on Oct 18, 2023. This is an extexnsion of its previous $58M raised in Jul 2023, bringing Series D-1 total to $68M. This additional investment brings HawkEye 360's total overall funding to $372.3M to date.
