Gogoro

Gogoro is a Taiwanese-based venture-backed company that develops and sells electric scooters and battery swapping infrastructure.

Gogoro aims to deliver consumer innovations that will improve how the world's most populated cities distribute and utilize energy. 

Gogoro was founded in 2011 by Horace Luke & Matt Taylor and is based in Guishan, Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Gogoro Smartscooter, the first consumer product from Gogoro, was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2015. Along with the scooter, Gogoro announced a battery-swapping network under the name Gogoro Energy Network.

Gogoro started selling its scooters in Taiwan in 2015, and has sold over 30,000 scooters and built more than 400 stations for riders to swop used batteries for charged ones.

 

Gogoro's investors include Panasonic, Taiwan's National Development Fund, Temasek, Generation Investment Management, & Sumitomo Corporation among others. Gogoro was valued at $800M+ during their "Series c" funding of a $300M on Sep 20, 2017.
