Be My Eyes is a mobile app that allows anyone to assist visually impaired people through live video calls.
Be My Eyes is a free mobile app with one main goal: to make the world more accessible for blind and low-vision people. The app connects blind and low-vision individuals with sighted volunteers and companies from all over the world through a live video call.
Be My Eyes was founded in 2012 by Christian Erfurt and Hans Jørgen Wiberg. The company is headquartered in Tranbjerg J, Midtjylland, Denmark.
Be My Eyes' app harnesses the power of generosity, technology and human connection to help blind and visually impaired individuals lead more independent lives.
Be My Eyes’ “micro-volunteering” platform has become beloved amongst blind and sighted users alike. Fueled by inspiring stories and viral social media posts of strangers connecting across oceans to help one another, the small startup has amassed what amounts to the world’s largest global community of visually impaired people (almost 200,000), and a volunteer community many times that size (more than 3.5M).
Be My Eyes is backed by Cultivation Capital, Singularity University, the founders of Zendesk and the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco. The company raised $2.8M in a Series A round on Feb 18, 2020. This brings Be My Eyes' total funding to $5.3M to date.
