Aerones is an innovative technology company that develops robots for much faster, safer and more efficient wind turbine blade maintenance services.
Aerones' mission is to use drones to get human workers out of harm’s way.
Aerones was founded in 2015 by Dainis Kruze and Janis Putrams. The company is headquartered in Riga, Latvia.
Aerones perform tasks such as lightning conductivity testing, high-resolution inspection, drainage hole cleaning, cleaning, painting and leading-edge repair. Aerones' remote-operated robots clean towers and blades by blasting them with a liquid detergent, while funnels beneath the blades collect the mucked-up liquid for reuse.
Aerones robots also inspect turbine systems with cameras and ultrasound scanners. The robots claims to have cleaned more than 5,000 turbines to date across 19 countries.
Aerones has partnerships with some of the largest wind companies, including Siemens Gamesa, Enel, GE and Vestas.
Aerones is backed by Lightrock, Future Positive Capital, Change Ventures, YCombinator, Haniel, Capitalia, InnoEnergy, Metaplanet, Skype founder Jaan Tallinn, Pace Ventures, EcoSummit, and others. The company raised €27.7M ($30M) in a new round on Jan 16, 2022. This brings Aerones' total funding to $83.1M to date.
