Ÿnsect

Ÿnsect is the world leader in the production of protein and natural insect fertilizers.

Ynsect is pioneering the alternative foods industry to make the world a safer, healthier place. We produce more food with much less impact.

Ÿnsect was founded in 2011 by Antoine Hubert, Jean-Gabriel Levon, Alexis Angot, and Fabrice Berro. The company is headquartered in Paris. Ÿnsect runs two production sites, include Dole, France, and a hatchery in Omaha, Nebraska. The company is currently commissioning a 3rd site, the world’s largest vertical farm, in Amiens, France.

Ÿnsect processes insects into high-end, high-value ingredients to feed the entire food chain: plants, farmed animals, pets and humans. From its purpose-built state-of-the-art farms, Ÿnsect offers a long-term, sustainable, healthy solution to accelerate protein and plant consumption.

Ÿnsect uses disruptive technology protected by more than 350 patents, to raise its Buffalo and Molitor mealworms in highly-automated vertical farms, creating value chains fully aligned with the Paris COP21 Agreement +1.5°C scenario and with the EU Fit for 55 target.

Ynsect offers Protein-Rich Insect Material, a nutritional product that is a mix of proteins and bioactive molecules to improve fish growth and survivability. Ÿnsect cultivats its mealworms in state-of-the-art vertical farms powered by advanced robotics, computer vision and cutting-edge AI.

Ÿnsect is backed by Bpifrance, FootPrint Coalition, Astanor Ventures, European Commission, Future Positive Capital, Upfront Ventures, French bank Caisse d’Epargne, Talis Capital, and others. The company secured €160M ($175M) in a new round on Apr 17, 2023. This brings Ÿnsect's total funding $580M to date.
