Zuoyebang, a sub-organization of Baidu, is an online education startup that provides tutoring services for primary and secondary students.

ZuoYeBang is committed to providing all-round learning counseling services for primary and middle school students nationwide.

Zuoyebang was founded in 2015 by Hou Jianbin. The company is headquartered in Beijing, Beijing, China. Zuoyebang started as a phase of Q&A website Baidu Zhidao, is a platform where scholars can seek answers to study-related problems, and also supply method to peers who are trying to find assistance.

Zuoyebang is targeting at primary and secondary school students from around the country. It is also a comprehensive study tool for school work search, efficient practice, learning and discussion.

Zuoyebang offers online courses and runs live lessons, also allows students to take a picture of a problem, upload it to the app and get its solution. The startup claims it uses artificial intelligence to identify the question and its answer.

 

Zuoyebang currently cooperates with 113 educational organizations and 370,000 primary schools and high schools in China. The platform has 400 million registered users and 170 million monthly active users, about 50 million of whom use the service each day. More than 12 million of these users are paid subscribers.

 

Zuoyebang is backed by SoftBank’s Vision Fund, Sequoia Capital China, Tiger Global, Alibaba Group, Qatar Investment Authority, FountainVest Partners and others. The company raised $1.6B in Series E+ round on Dec 28, 2020. This brings Zuoyebang’s total funding to $2.93B to date. Zuoyebang was previously valued at $6.5B after it had raised its Series E on June 29, 2020.
