WaveOptics

WaveOptics is a global provider of pioneering Augmented Reality waveguides offering exceptional picture quality in flexible form factors. They are the world leading designer and manufacturer of diffractive waveguides, the key optical component in wearable augmented reality (AR) devices.

WaveOptics develops high-performance, highly manufacturable waveguides through which people see augmented reality.

WaveOptics was founded in 2014 by David Grey and Sumanta Talukdar. The company is based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom with additional offices in Los Angeles, California and Taipei, Taiwan.

WaveOptics’ diffractive waveguides seamlessly combine real and virtual worlds, with a large eye-box and a high field of view. Thei augmented and mixed reality headsets can be designed with small, light and flexible form factors.

WaveOptics technology includes binocular display, high field-of-view, full RGB color, and lightweight features.

WaveOptics’ waveguides have a unique and patented optical structure that enables two-dimensional pupil expansion. 2D pupil expansion is the technique that enables us to provide a very large eye-box using a very small light engine.

WaveOptics is backed by Octopus Ventures, Touchstone Innovations, IP Group Plc, Robert Bosch Venture Capital, GoerTek Inc. and others. The company raised $13M in its latest "Series C" extension financing on Sep 10, 2019. This brings WaveOptics' total funding to $54.6M to-date.

WaveOptics has a strategic partnership with Compal and Wistron.
