Varjo

Varjo is a leader in industrial-grade VR/XR hardware and software that has developed a virtual and mixed reality headset capable of “human-eye resolution” for use in various enterprise applications.

Varjo is revolutionizing reality with hardware and software that let you seamlessly merge virtual, mixed and traditional reality – all with the clarity of the human eye.

Varjo was founded in 2016 by Klaus Melakari, Niko Eiden, Urho Konttori and Roope Rainisto. The company is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with offices in Oslo, Norway and Arlington, Virginia.

Varjo’s tech — namely, the new XR streaming platform ‘Varjo Reality Cloud’ in combination with the company’s XR-3, VR-3 and Aero products — enables professional, fully virtual work in various sectors, anytime and anywhere.

Varjo's customers include global enterprises such as Volvo Cars, Boeing, Audi, Siemens, KIA, and Lockheed Martin, who are using the company’s devices to conduct immersive astronaut and pilot training, design the cars of the future, streamline product development, and more.

Varjo has also signed a commercial partnership with MeetinVR  to deliver photorealistic virtual collaboration, a much-needed solution for users to be able to collaborate remotely. It launched a real-time chroma key and marker tracking functionality so XR-1 Developer Edition users can seamlessly blend real and virtual content.

Varjo is backed by EQT Ventures, Atomico, Volvo Car Tech Fund, Lifeline Ventures, Atomico, Tesi, PE fund, Mirabaud, Foxconn, NordicNinja, Swisscanto Invest, and others. The company raised $40M in Series D round on Sep 06, 2022. This brings Varjo's total funding to $139.9M to date.
