Unacademy helps students prepare for competitive exams to get into a college and also those who are pursuing graduation-level courses. On its app, students watch live classes from educators and later engage in sessions to review topics in more detail.

 

Unacademy has over 50,000 educators on its platform, many of whom are very popular on YouTube. These educators help Unacademy sell more subscriptions and in return get a commission, according to industry executives familiar with the business arrangement.

 

Unacademy has amassed over 6 million monthly active users (over 600,000 of whom pay for the service) in over 10,000 cities in India.

 

Unacademy is backed by General Atlantic, Temasek, Sequoia Capital India, Facebook, SoftBank's Vision Fund 2, Tiger Global, Blume Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Mirae Asset, and others. The companny raised $440M in a Series H round on Aug 01, 2021. This brings Unacademy's total funding to $838.5M to date. The new round pushed the company's valuation to $3.44B, up from the $2B valuation achoeved in Nov 2020.
