Sabi, a spinoff from Rensource, is a B2B e-commerce startup providing digital commerce infrastructure to Africa’s informal economy.

Sabi caters to the needs of manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers and classifies all of them as merchants.

Sabi was launched in 2021 by Ademola Adesina and Anu Adasolum, as a spin off from Rensource. The company is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, with operations in Kenya and South Africa

 

Sabi's platform enables and empowers a broad ecosystem of users, allowing merchants, importers, exporters, distributors, and manufacturers to expand their capabilities and grow their businesses using Sabi’s technology rails.

 

Sabi uses offline agents, call centers, merchant partners and supplier centers (with access to tools including inventory management, sales, tracking, digital invoices and analytics) as channels to meet the various stakeholders in this value chain.

 

Sabi is home to more than 300,000 merchants and over 15,000 agents across Africa. Sabi is recording 15,000 monthly orders, with $1 billion in annualized GMV. The startup has facilitated over $100M on behalf of local microfinance banks and fintech lenders.

 

Sabi is backed by CRE Venture Capital, CommerzVentures, Norrsken22, Fluent Ventures, Janngo Capital, Proof VC, Atlantica Ventures, Waarde Capital, Ekovention, and others. The company raised $38M in a Series B round on May 19, 2023. This brings Sabi's total funding to $66M to date. The latest round valued the company at a $300M post-money.
