Rockley Photonics was founded in 2013 by Andrew Rickman and is based in Pasadena, California with additional offices in San Jose, CA; Oxford, UK andd Helsinki, Finland.

Rockley is focused on sales of chipsets plus customer-specific design of photonics chips and custom integrated packaged products. 

The Rockley platform technology enables a wide range of products for imaging, sensing and other applications requiring a free-space optical interface. Rockley offers a full-custom development mode for high-volume market applications.

 

Rockley provides silicon ICs and CMOS interface circuitry for optical transceiver modules. Where required, Rockley can develop customized system solutions for the customer application. Rockley has partnered with multiple Tier-1 customers across the markets it serves to deliver the complex optical systems required for transformational product realization.

 

Rockley Photonics is backed by Morningside Technology Ventures, SIG-i Capital, Applied Ventures, Perscitus LLP, Kreos Capital, Rockley Group and others. The company raised $65M (approx £47M) in new financing on Feb 01, 2021. This brings Rockley's total funding to $280M to date.
