Riverlane

Riverlane, a spin-out of Cambridge University, is a quantum engineering company that develops software that transforms quantum computers from experimental technology into commercial products.

Riverlane’s mission is to make quantum computing useful far sooner than previously imaginable.

Riverlane was founded in 2017 by Steve Brierley. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom, with offices in Boston and San Francisco.

Riverlane is building Deltaflow.OS, an operating system for quantum computers that creates error-free logical qubits from many unstable physical qubits, enabling users to build reliable applications, to solve real world problems.

Riverlane demonstrated the world’s fastest Decode solution that allows Deltaflow.OS to support far larger numbers of qubits than previously possible, while by the end of 2025, the company will develop its Decode solution into a chip-based ‘TeraQuOp’ decoder that can process up to 100TB of data per second.

Riverlane is partnering with some of the world’s leading academic labs including the University of Wisconsin, Duke University, University of Oxford and University of Innsbruck, and over a third of the world’s quantum hardware companies, such as Infleqtion (formerly Cold Quanta), Qolab, Quera, Seec, Rigetti and Universal Quantum.

Riverlane is backed by Draper Esprit, Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC), Amadeus Capital Partners, Molten Ventures, University of Cambridge, Altair, National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF), and others. The company raised $18.7M (£15M) in a Series B round on Apr 24, 2023. This brings Riverlane's total funding to $42.8M to date.
