Plenty is an indoor, vertical farming technology company that can grow clean produce year-round, anywhere in the world.
Plenty is on a mission to bring healthy food to the world while protecting the environment.
Plenty was founded in 2013 by Matt Barnard, Nate Storey and Nate Mazonson. The company is headquartered in South San Francisco, California, and operates the largest of its kind indoor plant science research facility in Laramie, Wyoming.
Plenty’s architecture is completely different from greenhouses and other indoor farms. Its vertical towers and intelligent platform make Plenty the only vertical farming company capable of growing multiple crops on one platform with consistently superior flavor and yields.
Plenty's field-scale indoor farms combines crop science with machine learning, IoT, big data, climate creation technology and the extraordinary flavor and nutritional profiles of heirloom seed stock, enabling them to grow the food nature intended — while minimizing our water and energy footprint.
Plenty has developed its indoor vertical farming technology to manufacture nutrient-rich plants with extraordinary flavor. Plenty farms deliver produce with zero pesticides, and are designed to use less than one percent the space of conventional agriculture and less than five percent of the water.
Plenty is backed by SoftBank Vision Fund 1, Bezos Expeditions, Innovation Endeavors, One Madison Group, JS Capital, Driscoll’s, DCM Ventures, Walmart, and others. The company raised $400M in Series E round on Jan 25, 2022. This brings Plenty's total funding to $941M to date. The company didn't disclose its valuation for the latest round but was previously valued at $1.05b from Series c raised in June 2019.
