Orbital Sidekick launched its first satellite in 2021. Data from the company’s satellites feeds into Orbital Sidekick’s Sigma platform. Customers have used Sigma “to monitor over 12,000 miles of pipelines and flag 100 suspected methane leaks, 200 suspected liquid hydrocarbon leaks.

 

Orbital Sidekick is also planning to launch two satellites Global Hyperspectral Observation Satellite (GHOSt). Orbital Sidekick is also developing solutions for defense customers. Notably, the company won a $16 million STRATFI.

 

Orbital Sidekick is backed by Temasek, Energy Innovation Capital, In-Q-Tel, Allied Minds, Williams, ONEOK, The University of Minnesota’s Endowment, 11.2 Capital, Syndicate 708, and others. The company raised $10M in a new round on Jan 31, 2023. This brings Orbital Sidekick's total funding to $46.8M to date.
