Oda, formerly known as Kolonial, is an online grocery store that offers a wide range groceries and dinners, either delivered to your home or pick point.

Oda focuses on innovative and inspiring usability and streamlined logistics, offering both pick-up and delivery.

Oda was founded in 2013 by 10 entrepreneurs. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with operations in its home market of Norway as well as Finland and Germany.

Oda offers same-day or next-day delivery of food, meal kits and home essentials and is aiming to provide “a weekly shop” for prices that compete against those of traditional supermarkets. The company has grown to become the sector leader in a category it arguably helped define in its home country.

Oda builds and controls its own supply chains, from producers to consumers (no partnerships with third-party physical retailers where Oda powers their services), producing several of the products itself (such as baked goods) to order, and using centralized fulfillment centers to manage orders for large geographies.

Oda has developed a world-class logistics and distribution system, which makes online grocery profitable and sustainable. Customers that place orders through Oda reduce CO2 emissions significantly and cut food waste by up to 75% when compared to shopping at a physical store.

Oda is backed by Kinnevik, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2, Prosus, Verdane, Summa Equity, REMA, Rasmussen Group, and others. The company raised raised NOK 1.5B ($151M) in equity and NOK621M ($62.5M) in debt financing on Dec 06, 2022. This brings Oda's total funding to $585.3M to date. The latest round lowered the company's valuation to $353M post-money. Oda was previously valued at $900M from a funding in Apr 2021.
