Moon Surgical

Moon Surgical is a medical device company developing a surgical robot for laparoscopy assistance.

Moon Surgical strives to improve efficiency in operating rooms and provide better surgical care for patients.

MastOR was established in 2019 by Brice Gayet. The company is headquartered in Paris, France, with an office in San Francisco, California. Moon Surgical was incubated by Sofinnova Partners' MD Start in 2020.

Moon Surgical is creating a new category of Robotic Surgery with its Maestro System, which enhances traditional laparoscopy. The minimalistic, co-manipulation Maestro System uses tomorrow's technology to deliver this capability today.

Moon Surgical received CE mark approval in Europe for its Maestro system for surgical robotics in Apr 2023. The company also received its first 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Maestro surgical system in Dec 2022.

Moon Surgical is backed by Sofinnova Partners, NVIDIA's NVentures, Johnson & Johnson Innovation - JJDC, GT Healthcare Capital, Cathay Health, BPI France, Yann Fleureau, Siddarth Satish, and others. The company raised an additional $55.4M in a new financing round on May 17, 2023. This brings Moon Surgical's total funding to $92.2M to date.
