Matter Labs

Matter Labs is a eveloper of scaling decentralized application intended to remove interaction obstacles between untrusted parties.

Matter Labs is pioneering the Zero-Knowledge Proof technology on Ethereum.

Matter Labs was founded in 2018 by Alex Gluchowski and Alexandr Vlasov. The company is headquartered in Berlin, Germany.

Matter Labs is better known for its work on zkSync, an Ethereum scaling solution that drastically reduces the cost of Ethereum transactions. ZkSync is a zero-knowledge rollup implementation, meaning that validity proofs are generated based on hundreds of transactions and then posted to the main Ethereum blockchain.

zkSync’s roll-ups are EVM-compatible, meaning they work with any blockchain using an Ethereum Virtual Machine. Examples of other EVM-compatible networks include Avalanche, Solana, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain.

Matter Labs's zkSync is used by 150 projects, including Chainlink, SushiSwap, Uniswap, Aave, Argent, 1inch, Gnosis and Curve have been implementing zkSync in their products.

Matter Labs is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Blockchain Capital, Dragonfly, LightSpeed Venture Partners, Blockchain.com, Variant, Crypto.com, Consensys, ByBit, OKEx, Alchemy, and others. The company raised $200M in Series C round on Nov 16, 2022. This brings Matter Labs' total funding to $258M to date.
