Go-Jek was founded on October 12, 2010 by Nadiem Makarim, Michaelangelo Moran, & Kevin Aluwi. The company is headquartered in Indonesia with operations in Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and will soon operate in the Philippines, Malaysia etc. GOJEK now operates in over 50 cities across Southeast Asia, with more to follow in the coming years.

GOJEK has started as a motorcycle ride-hailing phone service in Indonesia and evolved to provide on-demand transport and lifestyle services that move the city. Gojek launched its application in 2015 with only three services (GoRide, GoSend, and GoMart). Today, Gojek has evolved from ride hailing to an ecosystem with three Super Apps – Consumer Super App, Driver Super App, Merchant Super App - providing more than 20 services, ranging from transportation, food delivery, groceries, massage, house cleaning, logistics to a cashless digital payments platform called GoPay.

 

Gojek's investors include Astra International, blibli.com, Temasek Holdings, Google, Mitsubishi, Sequoia, Northstar, KKR, Warburg Pincus, Visa among others. The company raised $1.2B in a latest funding on Mar 14, 2020. This brings Gojek's total funding to just under $4.5B. Gojek was valued at a gigantic $9.5B from a $2B funding round in January 2019. Gojek was the first company in Indonesia to earn the unicorn status, as stated by an independent third party.

 

GOJEK has also acquired C42 Engineering, CodeIgnition, Leftshift, Pianta, Loket.com, Kartuku, Midtrans, Mapan, & AirCTO to date. The company also has investment made in Pathao, a transportation network company operating in Bangladesh.

 

Gojek has received many awards and accolades, such as: In 2019, Gojek has once again made it to the annual Fortune Change the World List, becoming the only company from Southeast Asia to make the list twice. From ranking 17th in 2017, Gojek has leapt forward and ranked 11th out of 52 global companies including Apple (16th), IBM (21st), and Alibaba (37th).
