Ecovative is a biological science and design company, advancing mycelium technology to transform industries with high quality, Earth-friendly materials. 

Ecovative pioneered the art and science of growing complete materials with mushroom mycelium. 

Ecovative Design was founded in 2007 by Eben Bayer and Gavin McIntyre. The company is headquartered in Green Island, New York.

 

Ecovative uses mycelium to grow category defining products ranging from leather like textiles to sustainable packaging to high performance foams for apparel and beauty. Ecovative's operates three brands include Mushroom® Packaging, Forager, and MyForest Foods. Ecovative's MycoComposite technology binds sustainable materials together with mycelial fibers to produce biodegradable Mushroom® Packaging and eco-friendly building materials. 

 

Ecovative developed AirMycelium™ manufacturing platform, which grows 100% pure mycelium materials at scale in vertical farms, producing sustainable alternatives to leather, plastic, and other products of fossil fuels and factory farming.

 

Ecovative collaborates with around 15 brands and manufacturers, encompassing a diverse range of industries, including include ECCO Leather, Vivobarefoot, Wolverine Worldwide, BESTSELLER, Pangaia, and PVH Corp.

 

Ecovative is backed by Viking Global Investors, Senator Investment Group, Standard Investments, FootPrint Coalition Ventures, AiiM Partners, Trousdale Ventures, and others. The company raised $30M in the intital close of Series E round on Jun 06, 2023. This brings Ecovative's total funding to $129.1M to date.
