Automated Insights is the creator of Wordsmith, the world's first public natural language generation template engine. Wordsmith allows users to generate human-sounding narratives from data, making it easy to produce millions of personalized reports, articles and narratives in the time it takes to write just one.
Automated Insights was founded in 2007 by Robbie Allen & is based in Durham, North Carolina. It was formerly known as StatSheet, the company changed its name to Automated Insights in 2011 to mark its expansion into content generation for industries outside of sports.
The Wordsmith platform helps companies in data-driven industries, including financial services, e-commerce, real estate, business intelligence, media and many others, achieve content scale, efficiency and personalization.
Automated Insights has more than 200 customers, including Allstate, The Associated Press, Edmunds.com, the Orlando Magic and Yahoo! who uses Wordsmith to generate more than 1.5 billion pieces of content per year.
Automated Insights is backed by Osage Venture Partners, Samsung Venture Investment Corp., the Associated Press, AOL co-founder Steve Case, Court Square Ventures and others. The company has raised a total of $10.8M in funding.

Automated Insights was acquired by Vista Equity Partners on Feb 12, 2015 for $80M, but remains independent.
